Open Hearts, Open Homes

Part of Open Hearts Open Home’s mission is to educate and inform Village Church about similar organizations in the area surrounding Bartlett whose mission is the same – to serve vulnerable children in tangible ways. To that end, we will be raising money for Open Hearts Open Homes to present on behalf of Village Church to the following organizations and causes:

Health & Cleanliness

Please keep your child home if he/she experiences an elevated temperature within 24 hours of the event, discharge of green or yellow mucus, complaints of stomachaches or sick feelings, experienced diarrhea or vomiting, or another communicable, contagious illness. Please monitor your child’s health as well as others living in your household.

FAQs

When is payment due?  Full payment is due at the time of registration.

Do you offer any discounts? We offer a $5 per child discount until May 6.  Have multiple children? Use code: MULTI10 to receive an extra per-child discount.  Registered volunteers will also receive a discount code.

Can I request my child be grouped with a friend?  We are happy to receive friend requests. Students will first be placed in grade level groups.  Though we want to honor requests, we cannot guarantee all.

When do I pick-up t-shirts? T-shirt & registration packet pickup will be on Sunday, July 16 from 9:00 am- 12:30 pm.

Where do I drop-off my child during the week of VBS? Great question! Drop-off is from 8:45-9:00 a.m. daily. Please walk your child into the church building. Look for a banner with the group name on your student’s registration packet. You will receive a personalized pick-up tag from your child’s leader.

How do I pick-up my child?  Return to your child’s group banner at noon with the pick-up tag you received that morning.

What should my child wear? Students should wear the provided VBS T-shirt each day.  Because we are journeying back in time to the Middle Ages, students are welcome to wear weather-appropriate costuming that fits the theme. No props or masks please.

What should my child bring?  A labeled water bottle, a layer of sunscreen, and a spirit of adventure!

What if my child loses a water bottle….or something else?  There is a lost and found table in the church foyer. To minimize this problem,  please label your child’s water bottle.

What if my child has allergies?  We care about your child and their safety! Village Church VBS is a nut-free event. Please share any food allergies when you register and a VBS volunteer will reach out and create a safe snack plan.

What safety policies do you have in place? We strictly enforce a two-person policy meaning students are with two volunteers at all times.  Adults are not permitted to enter any restroom while in use by a student. We also require background checks for each adult volunteer and provide mandatory training for all volunteers.

I have more questions! Who can I talk to? If you are looking for more information feel free to email Shelley Wall at vbs@vcob.org.  We will also host monthly VBS Visits between Sunday morning services to offer an opportunity to chat face to face.  Look for a table on July 2.
